In the quaint and mysterious city of Derry, there lies a supernatural entity which hide under the sew of the city which preys on children every twenty-seven years. The malicious shape-shifting being usually disguises as a dancing clown named Pennywise, a friendly and funny appearance to kids but highly terrifying with its preys once it starts to feed on them.
It follows a group of childhood friends named The Loser's Club, who all start to have nightmare about a dancing clown, haunts them as a kid until when they are all grown-ups. After all these years of adulthood, they have to face their childhood terror again as it awakes-come back to Derry to fulfill the promise they made with each other, to kill the monster once and for all.
Stephen King masterfully tailored the themes of fear, friendship, trauma and the loss of innocence. He brings a diversed background of each characters as they all have different vulnerabilities and characteristics, which makes it easy for readers to empathize the compassion of each souls.
